Find Coupons and Save Money on Almost Anything

Save MoneyEven in a good economy, people want to save money, but bad financial times make pinching pennies a necessity. You could spend hours every week clipping grocery coupons for items you might not even need or comb the Internet with a fine-toothed RSS feed.

Or you could browse our coupon section and save time, which can be more valuable than money. Right now, there are more than 70,000 coupons available. Nope, not a misprint – more than 70,000 coupons on AOL Classifieds.

And these aren’t just crappy coupons where you save a nickel if you buy 4 cans of $3 soup. You’ll find savings on almost anything you need on a day-to-day basis.

Sure, you can grab grocery coupons, but there are coupons in 20 categories including
health & beauty coupons, automotive coupons, home & garden coupons and
service coupons like cleaners, maids and funerals.

One of the most popular categories is dining coupons. There are literally thousands of coupons for restaurants available with some involving a buy-one-get-something-free scheme and others are flat discounts like 20% off or $10 off.

Word of obvious caution, just because you have a coupon doesn’t mean you need to buy something. If you weren’t going to buy it anyway, then spending money, even at a discount doesn’t equal savings. With 70,000 coupons, I’m just saying you can find a coupon for almost anything.

Save responsibly.

Pugs Not Drugs: Fun Dog Collectibles

A recent trip to the Westminster Dog Show reminded me just how funny dogs can be. It was a serious show for sure, but dogs are natural comedians and perhaps even more entertaining is the dog show culture (like the movie ‘Best in Show’) and just dog collectibles in general

By no means am I saying there is anything wrong with that. I love dogs, but putting my dog’s picture on a t-shirt or mug is probably my limit.

If it weren’t for passionate dog fans, I fear the world would be deprived of the pug toothpick holder (pictured). By the way, does the fact that the pug appears to be a chef add any credibility to his ability to hold toothpicks?

A quick cruise through the Classifieds and you can find other interesting canine-related items, like more dog toothpick holders, dog clothes, pug wine glasses, and dog collectibles for the dog lovers in your life.

Or … for the dog lover in you.

Attention Race Fans – NASCAR Tickets

NASCAR’s Daytona 500 in February signals the official beginning of the lengthy race season that lasts well into November with the  “The Race for The Cup” championsip.  That’s 36 races in 10 months (41 if you count the preseason and all-star races) which makes fantasy NASCAR the perfect time-filler inbetween the end of one NFL fantasy football season and the beginning of another.

Ask anybody that’s has a #3, #20 or #24 shirt hanging up in their closet or has a full Dale Jr. living room suite with sofa ottoman and recliner, watching the races in person is much more exciting than watching the weekly runs on TV. There’s just no way to recreate that ‘days of thunder’ feel that you can only get live with the noise and speed. They say the TV makes an actor look heavier by adding 10 pounds, I think TV makes the cars seem slower, by 100 miles.

If you want to experience the live NASCAR thrills, check out NASCAR tickets for sale. Race locations have expanded geographically over the years so chances are there’s a race relatively nearby. Even if it’s an overnight trip, a live NASCAR race is worth the travel and if you can get Daytona 500 tickets, that’s the granddaddy of ‘em all.

Most of the tickets are reasonable and there are some with special treats like pit passes.

Don’t forget the earplugs.

Love is a Warm Valentine’s Day Gift

Love is full of cliches.

If pictures are worth a thousand words and actions speak louder than words, then that means anyway you look at it, actions hold more weight than any media.

This is especially true during the love season of Valentine’s Day. You can say you love someone, but it’s the time of the year to prove it.

Some people find themselves scrambling on Feb. 13th to find a gift that expresses their thoughtfulness and eternal love – a love that is so inspiring they waited until the last-minute to find said gift.

If you really want to show him/her you care, plan early. Planning early tells the other person I am thinking about you a lot and also allows you to be more imaginative with your gift selection. Buying drug store chocolates or grocery store roses  is “the thought that counts” and appreciated, but it still says “our love is like a checkout line.”

There are thousands of Valentine’s Day gifts for you to browse or you can flip through popular sections like jewelry, concert tickets and heavy equipment.

What could be more romantic than riding  a tractor to a Lil Wayne concert wearing turquoise earrings?

Winter Grilling, Had Me a Blast

While a lot of the country is deep in the grips of an ice storm, it’s the perfect time to look at buying an outdoor grill (or a BBQ grill for those not from one of the major BBQ producing regions).

Winter is the best time to buy a grill for two reasons: prices are generally more favorable and there’s nothing like staying warm by the comforting heat of a grill while the intoxicating smell of cooking meat slices through the chilled air.

The prices are generally lower for the same reason that it’s cheaper to buy a coat in the summer or Valentine’s Day candy in March – it’s the off-season for grilling.

The second reason is a personal preference and may require therapy.

Browse the home and garden section for grill deals and happy meating.

P.S. If you have an extra grill or want to upgrade, you can post a free classified ad and sell your current set-up. It’s that easy.

Snow Patrol: Shovels, Plows and Snow Removal

There are tool sheds in certain parts of the country where snow shovels are never needed. Although if you own a very large dog or have cattle crazing in the backyard, a snow shovel makes an excellent pooper scooper so an argument could be made that a well-stocked tool shed would, in fact, include a snow shovel.

If you live in an area where snow is part of the winter routine, then you know a snow shovel is a necessity. Of course, if you’re ‘efficient’ like me, you may use a snow blower. Some say snow blowers are expensive and a lazy man’s game, but first of all, you can get good deals on snow blowers and secondly, a snow blower (next to the wheel) is the second best example of why man makes machines – to make life easier.

And there’s nothing usually easy about snow.

If you’re currently having a snow issue or planning for the next snow incident, you’ll want to check out snow shovels, snow blowers, snow plows and snow removal.

Super Bowl Tickets and the $157K Suite

The 2009 Super Bowl commercials are costing advertisers $100,000 a second — obviously the NFL isn’t offering a recession special on the rate.

Why spend $100,000 a second on the Super Bowl, when for $157,000, you can get a luxury Super Bowl suite for the entire game — and they won’t charge extra to watch the Bruce Springsteen half-time show.

The suite package has 16 tickets so even if you have 15 friends, it still comes out to around $9800 a person — kind of pricey, but that does include food, beverage and uh, parking.

Seriously though, if you’ve ever wanted to attend the Super Bowl in person, this could be your year. You can find Super Bowl tickets here and some are modestly priced, comparatively. It is the Super Bowl after all so the tickets are going to cost a little more than tickets to Mall Cop.

Besides, it would nice to spend some time in Tampa, out of the cold. Seeing the Super Bowl in person sure beats hanging out in a beer-stenched sports bar with your cousin Larry taking bets on how many Buffalo wings he can put in his mouth at one time.
